I was visiting Lancaster, Pennsylvania one day last year and happened upon the Charles Demuth museum.
There, I discovered an exhibit displaying many of Demuth's modernist paintings along with other artists involved in the Precisionist Movement of the 1920's and 30's.
Precisionism focuses on the themes of industrialization and modernization in the American landscape, using precise, sharply defined geometrical forms.  Painters and photographers of that time influence me as I create structural abstractions of iconic architecture and building materials, such as corten steel, concrete and marble, to name a few.
